Highland County Parks & Nature Preserves

The following list of parks and preserves includes those managed by federal, state, county, and non-governmental agencies (such as the National Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, various historical societies, etc.).

We have tried to collect information on the activities and facilities available at various parks, but things may change without us knowing about it. So please double-check the information at the official site (click on the park’s name to go there).


Etawah Woods (State Nature Preserve)

Fallsville South Wildlife Area (State Wildlife Area)

Fort Hill (Arc of Appalachia Preserve System and the Ohio Historical Society)

Highlands Nature Sanctuary (Arc of Appalachia Preserve System)
  • 7660 Cave Road, Bainbridge, OH 45612
  • Location: The Highlands Nature Sanctuary is located in Highland County in south central Ohio, approximately 25 miles west of Chillicothe, and 17 miles east of Hillsboro. It lies just off Highway 50, four miles west of Bainbridge, and four miles east of Rainsboro, on Cave Road. Check the web site for open hours.

Miller Nature Sanctuary (State Nature Preserve)
