Mercer County Parks & Nature Preserves

The following list of parks and preserves includes those managed by federal, state, county, and non-governmental agencies (such as the National Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, various historical societies, etc.).

We have tried to collect information on the activities and facilities available at various parks, but things may change without us knowing about it. So please double-check the information at the official site (click on the park’s name to go there).


Baker Woods (State Nature Preserve)
  • 4316 St Anthony Rd., Coldwater, OH 45828

  • Park size: 47 acres
  • Total trail length: 1 mile
  • Old growth forest remnant

Fort Recovery (Ohio Historical Society)
  • Location: State Route 119 and State Route 49, Fort Recovery OH 45846 (Call 800.283.8920 for hours)
Grand Lake St Marys (State Park)
  • 834 Edgewater Drive, St. Marys, OH 45885
  • Park size: Lake: 13,500 acres
  • Dog friendly (Not on swimming beaches)
  • Fishing (check the official site to see if there are any restrictions)
  • Hunting when in season with license. Please visit park web site for details.
  • Camp sites
  • Cross country ski trails
  • Restrooms
  • Boating, swimming (4 beaches). World’s largest man–made resevoir. Dog park, snowmobiling, nature center.

Mercer Wildlife Area (State Wildlife Area)

  • Park size: 1,408 acres

  • Good site for bird watching
  • Restrooms (Latrines)

St. Mary’s River Wetland (State Nature Preserve)
  • Park size: 69 acres
  • Permit required
