Seneca County Parks & Nature Preserves

The following list of parks and preserves includes those managed by federal, state, county, and non-governmental agencies (such as the National Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, various historical societies, etc.).

We have tried to collect information on the activities and facilities available at various parks, but things may change without us knowing about it. So please double check the information at the official site (click on the park’s name to go there).

Bowen Nature Preserve (County Park)
  • 11891 E. Co. Rd. 24, Republic, Ohio
  • Park size: 123 acres
  • Total trail length: 2.7 miles
  • Bridle trails
Collier (Howard) (State Nature Preserve)
  • 1655 W Twp Rd 38 Tiffin, OH 44883
  • GPS coordinates: N41 00.329′ W083 12.113′
  • Park size: 115 acres
  • Total trail length: 1.5 miles
  • Large trees, spectacular spring wildflowers
Forrest Nature Preserve (County Park)
  • 701 E. Co. Rd. 6, Tiffin, Ohio
  • Park size: 23 acres
  • Total trail length: 1.3 miles
  • Fishing (check the official site to see if there are any restrictions)
  • At least some parts are handicap accessible
Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve (County Park)
  • 5777 S. SR 19, Bloomville, Ohio
  • Park size: 292 acres
  • Total trail length: 2.7 miles hiking + 8.2 miles bridle
  • Bridle trails
  • Fishing (check the official site to see if there are any restrictions)
  • Particularly good site for bird watching
  • Nature center, observation deck, restored blacksmith shop
Opportunity Park (County Park)
  • 780 East CO Road 20 Tiffin, Ohio
  • At least some parts are handicap accessible
  • Trails, playground
Silver Creek (State Wildlife Area)
  • Location: See above link for driving directions and maps.
  • Park size: 42 acres
Springville Marsh (State Nature Preserve)
  • Location: See above link for driving directions and maps.
  • Park size: 161 acres
  • At least some parts are handicap accessible
  • Boardwalk, observation tower, wildlife blind
Steyer Nature Preserve (County Park)
  • 5901 N. Co. Rd. 33, Tiffin, Ohio
  • Park size: 141 acres
  • Fishing (check the official site to see if there are any restrictions)
  • Hunting when in season with license. Please visit park web site for details.
  • 5 loop trails, deep ravines
Sugar Creek & Knobby’s Prairie (State Wildlife Area)
  • Location: See above link for driving directions and maps.
  • Park size: 172 acres
Tiffin University Nature Preserve (County Park)
  • 2375 W CO Road 26 Tiffin, Ohio
  • Total trail length: 1.23 miles
  • Wetland
Zimmerman Nature Preserve (County Park)
  • 680 E. SR 18, Tiffin, Ohio
  • Park size: 5 acres
  • Total trail length: 0.2 miles
  • At least some parts are handicap accessible
