Gallia County Parks & Nature Preserves

The following list of parks and preserves includes those managed by federal, state, county, and non-governmental agencies (such as the National Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, various historical societies, etc.).

We have tried to collect information on the activities and facilities available at various parks, but things may change without us knowing about it. So please double check the information at the official site (click on the park’s name to go there).

AEP Gavin Public Hunting Lands (State Wildlife Area)

  • Park size: 6,885 acres
  • Permit required
  • Hunting when in season with license. Please visit park web site for details.
Crown City Wildlife Area (State Wildlife Area)
  • Location: See above link for driving directions and maps.
  • Trail map
  • Park size: 11,119 acres
  • Fishing (check the official site to see if there are any restrictions)
  • Hunting when in season with license. Please visit park web site for details.
  • Particularly good site for bird watching
Gallia County Hike & Bike Trail (Bike Path)
  • Transits: See above link for driving directions and maps.
  • Total trail length: 7.8 miles (28 miles when completed)
Raccoon Creek County Park (County)
  • Location: From US Route 35: US Route 35 to State Route 325 South, left on State Route 141, right on Dan Jones Road (County Road 28). From State Route 7: From Gallipolis, State Route 141 West, left on State Route 775, right after bridge over Raccoon Creek on Dan Jones Road (County Road 28).

  • Total trail length: A few miles of trails
Samuels Wildlife Area (State Wildlife Area)

  • Park size: 83 acres

Tycoon Lake Wildlife Area (State Wildlife Area)

  • Park size: 684 acres

  • Boating (electric motors only)
